Frequently Asked Questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your video is processed directly in your browser, on your own device. The original file is never uploaded, and you don't need to create an account

Why is there no sound?

The tool creates a silent reversed video. Sound played backwards usually isn't very useful, especially for social media clips. You can add music, sound effects or a voice-over later in your video editor or directly in Instagram

Will the reversed video be smooth?

The tool reverses the frames while keeping their timing, so videos recorded at 30 or 60 fps should stay smooth. Slow-motion and variable frame rate videos are also supported, although results can depend on the original file

Does reversing a video reduce its quality?

The video is saved again as an H.264 MP4 at its original resolution. Saving a video again always changes the picture a little, depending on the export quality you choose: Best quality keeps it closest to the original, Smaller file makes the smallest file

Which video formats are supported?

You can use MP4, MOV and WebM videos, as long as your browser supports the format and codec. H.264 is widely supported, while HEVC videos, often recorded on iPhones, may need a compatible browser. Large 4K videos can take longer to process and need more memory

Can I reverse videos on my phone?

Yes, the tool works on many modern Android phones and iPhones in compatible browsers, including Chrome and Safari. Keep the page open until your reversed video is ready

Why would I want to reverse a video?

Reversing a clip can change how a moment is revealed or create effects that would be hard to film. For example, you can turn a camera movement away from a subject into one that moves towards it, make falling objects rise, or create rewind transitions for Instagram Reels and TikTok

What is Reverse Video?

Reverse Video is a free online video reverser that makes your footage play from the end to the beginning. The last frame becomes the first, so everything in your video moves backwards.

It's a simple way to change how a scene looks without recording it again. A camera movement away from a subject becomes a movement towards it, falling objects rise, and a scene can be revealed in a completely different order.

The tool works directly in your browser and saves your reversed video as an MP4 without uploading the original footage.

Key features

  • No uploads: your video is processed directly on your device
  • Smooth reverse playback: the frames are reversed with their timing kept
  • Original resolution: your video keeps its size, nothing is resized
  • MP4 export: a silent H.264 MP4 for sharing or further editing
  • Phone and computer: works in supported modern browsers
  • Free to use: no sign-up or software to install

When to reverse a video

  • Behind-the-scenes reveals: sometimes a clip works better when the scene is revealed in the opposite direction. Reverse your footage to change how you introduce your photography setup or subject
  • Camera movements: turn a movement away from something into one that moves towards it, for a different transition without filming another take
  • Rewind effects: make water flow backwards, falling objects rise or scattered things come back together
  • Instagram Reels and TikTok: use short reversed clips for unexpected moments or interesting transitions
  • Boomerang-style loops: put the original and the reversed clip together in your video editor for a back-and-forth movement
  • Nature and macro videos: try reversing small movements, like water droplets falling or flowers moving in the wind

I sometimes film behind-the-scenes videos while photographing and later realize that I'd rather reveal the scene in the opposite direction. Instead of recording it again, I can simply reverse the clip. It's also handy for trying different camera movements and transitions when editing Reels.
